ADULT/YOUTH PROGRAM: (Ages 15+) "Making It Relevant: Purpose, Passion, and the Bicentennary of the Birth of the Bab"

We're living in the time of the blessed 200th anniversary of the Birth of the Bab, a powerful time to celebrate His life and message to humanity, as well as to reflect on its meaning in our own lives. How then, can we take the richness of the stories of the Babis and with confidence and enthusiasm, share them with others in a way that is relevant to what is most on people's minds and hearts in today's world? Mead Simon will encourage us to explore with clarity the fundamental purpose of the Baha'I Revelation as our foundation. From there, we will further our exploration of how to use the power of story in practical ways. How can we draw on these stories and what we know of the Baha'i Faith in responding to current local or international news? How might we define the relevant spiritual issues in challenging topics that weigh on our friends and neighbours, and perhaps shed some light on such topics based on spiritual principle and examples from the Baha'i dispensation? Come and participate in this journey of building an ever-advancing civilization. as we build momentum together in discovering new pathways to share in our consultations with others.

Mead Simon, known for his depth of Baha'i scholarship and ability to "unpack" complex concepts and present topics in understandable and practical ways, has served in many capacities: at the United States Baha'i National Center in Chicago, for many years as a delegate at the National Conference of the Baha'is of Canada, as a member of the Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario Baha'i Councils, as a member of Local Spiritual Assemblies in communities where he has lived, and as a Regional Coordinator for the prairie provinces. He has also served in the Multi-faith Chaplaincy Office at the University of Victoria. His insights and stories provide great interest for the friends who have had opportunities to study together with him, and many also enjoy his longtime blog on a number of topics related to the Baha'i Faith Mead enjoys life and service together with his wife and son in their community of Colwood, B.C.. When Mead is not immersed in writing, deepening or strolling by the ocean for inspiration, he can be found making his unique style of jewelry and creations as a fashion designer, a career he has enjoyed for over 30 years.
